Deeper Thoughts Project

I printed coroplast signs of a statement and question I originally had printed on stickers. I put them on the side of the street at different high traffic areas in San Antonio. I wanted people that saw them to think deeper about things. I want people to think about things other than what they’re going to eat, what they’re going to watch, what they’re going to buy, etc. The signs aren’t meant to sell or promote an idea to product to people. We seeย enough of those signs already while out driving. I designed the signs to be minimal because I didn’t want anything to distract from the message. I didn’t want there to be a hashtag, and I didn’t want to promote myself on these signs. I had very few made because they’re expensive to print.ย Photo Sep 26, 12 21 22 PM

I applied for Awesome SA‘s grant and my project was picked as one of the nine finalists to present in person a 3 minute presentation about our project. That night the Awesome SA board members would choose 3 projects to give a $1,000 grant to fund the chosen projects.

I hadn’t talked to a large group of people in a long time and didn’t have much time to prepare for the presentation, so I was super nervous! I know my presentation wasn’t that great and that I didn’t say everything I wanted to, BUT luckily the board members weren’t concerned about my presentation skills. I gave my project the name Deeper Thoughts and I was awarded one of the grants that night! It was very humbling to see that others like my idea so much that they would fund it. I was very blessed to also have some close friends with me that night.

I’m currently putting out these signs all around San Antonio. So be on the look out!
